This website has no account, contact form, analytics service, advertising service, or tracking pixels. The website itself does not store personal information. Its hosting provider may process standard request information, such as an IP address, browser details, and request time, to deliver and protect the site under the provider’s own terms.

Purchases and license activation

Polar processes TopNotcher purchases as the merchant of record and provides the download, receipt, customer portal, and license key. Polar processes the name, email address, billing information, and other purchase information needed for those services under its own privacy policy.

When you activate TopNotcher, the app sends Polar the license key you entered, TopNotcher's Polar organization identifier, and a random non-identifying Mac label. Polar returns an activation identifier. Later checks send that identifier and TopNotcher's benefit identifier to Polar. The key and activation details are stored in the macOS Keychain. Focus sessions, captured thoughts, preferences, and music information are never sent to Polar.

You can deactivate this Mac in TopNotcher Settings or manage the key, activation, receipt, and download through the Polar customer portal. See Polar's Privacy Policy .

TopNotcher for macOS

Focus sessions, captured thoughts, and preferences stay in the app’s local sandbox. TopNotcher has no account, analytics service, advertising service, or cloud sync. Its only remote app service is Polar license activation and validation. Apple Music controls use macOS Automation only after you choose to enable them.

TopNotcher extension for Chrome

The optional extension processes track title, artist, album, playback state, and timing on music.youtube.com. This data is needed to show what’s playing and let you use previous, play/pause, and next controls from TopNotcher. It sends that information only to TopNotcher on the same Mac through an authenticated connection to 127.0.0.1. A pairing token is stored locally in Chrome and in the macOS Keychain.

The extension does not access YouTube or Google account credentials, cookies, browser history, the user’s music library, or artwork. It has no analytics, advertising, remote backend, or remote code, and it does not retain listening history. TopNotcher does not send YouTube Music data to the internet, sell it, or share it with third parties.

The local connection listens on port 38417 only while the YouTube Music provider is enabled. Disabling the provider stops the connection. The extension’s access to YouTube Music is used only for now-playing information and the playback controls you request.

Control and deletion

Choosing Forget in TopNotcher revokes the native pairing token and asks a connected extension to remove its copy. Removing the extension deletes its local Chrome storage. If either side is offline, choose Forget in both the extension and TopNotcher to remove both locally stored credentials.

You can delete captured thoughts from the app’s Inbox and turn off music integrations in Settings.
